On Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at approximately 7 a.m., police received a report of a collision on Alness Street at Supertest Road.

It is reported that:

- a 26-year-old woman was crossing Alness Street

- at that time, a 52-year-old man was driving a white 2000 Freightliner commercial tractor - pulling a blue coloured trailer - east on Supertest Road

- the tractor turned south onto Alness Street

- the woman was struck and suffered fatal injuries at the scene

- the driver of the commercial truck failed to remain at the scene and was later located by Traffic Services investigators and is cooperating with officers

Traffic Services investigators are conducting a canvass for video footage and witnesses.

Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

(Ottawa) –The Ottawa Police Service Drug Unit has charged a man following its investigation into the seizure of a gun and drugs on Saturday, January 18, 2020.

Christopher CINEUS, 26 years old, of Laval, Quebec, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking x2
  • Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its serial number has been tampered with
  • Possession of a firearm without a licence
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon knowing no licence to possess it
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a firearm prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order

He appeared in court on Sunday, January 19, 2020, and is scheduled to appear in court again on January 29, 2020.

Proactive Patrol Leads to Seizure of Gun, Drugs 

(Ottawa) — Ottawa Police Service Bikes and Beats officers arrested a man and seized a handgun and drugs Saturday evening while conducting a proactive patrol in the ByWard Market/Rideau St. area. 

The officers were conducting a walkthrough of a Rideau Street business (1 to 100 block) when they observed a man preparing cannabis for sale. 

The subsequent arrest led to the discovery of a loaded 9 mm handgun and a quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine, khat, cannabis, cash, scale and packaging material. 

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with various offences including possession of cannabis for sale, possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of a loaded regulated firearm.
