(Ottawa) - The Ottawa Police Robbery unit is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying a male involved in a robbery of a financial institution in the 1200 block of Wellington Street West.

On April 4, 2019, at approximately 17:40, the lone male entered a financial institution, approached the counter and demand money. The male said he had a gun but none was seen. 

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’8” to 5’10”, between 30 and 40 yrs, thick brown hair and beard, wearing a dark winter coat, with a red hooded sweater underneath, dark colored pants, with black and white running shoes, possibly blue knapsack on and he was carrying a dark colored grocery bag. 

The suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money toward the intersection of Wellington St. and Holland Ave.

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest made in an attempt theft investigation.

On Friday, April 19, 2019, at 8:18 a.m., officers responded to a call for an unknown trouble in the Cathedral Bluffs Park area.

It is alleged that:

- a man called 9-1-1 to report he was trapped on the cliffs

- emergency crews responded and began to search for him

- he climbed into an unattended fire truck and tried to operate it

Jermaine Nichols, 40, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Attempt Theft Over
2) Fail to Comply with Recognizance

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Friday, April 19, 2019, at 10 a.m., in room 101.
